The indoor swimming pool is increasingly gaining ground, in the sedentary life we live in, as it makes swimming possible, regardless of weather conditions.
Usually, indoor swimming pool is placed on the ground floor so that the water heating can be improved with the sun rays and achieving better ventilation.
The lack of time spend on getting fit has increased the use of swimming pool as someone can exercise all parts of his body easily, pleasantly, without sweating, all the seasons of the year.

The indoor pool must have:

● Large opening frames for natural ventilation and entrance of the sun’s rays
● Direct access to the residence’s courtyard
● The transparent roof allows for plenty of natural lighting
● The swimming pool location must have southwest orientation in order to have the maximum possible sunshine throughout the year.
● The heating of the swimming pool, must be designed, with many alternate possibilities, beyond the sunshine, such as geothermy – solar collectors – heat pump.
● The air temperature, in the indoor swimming pool, should range from 28-30 oC and humidity from 60-70%.
● Along with the design of the swimming pool, we must place sauna, showers, changing rooms and gym.
● Swimming pool depth must begin at 1.20m and reach up to 2.50m

The swimming pool can be constructed in a variety of ways, such as the shotcrete – prefabricated elements or by the conventional method of concreting.
The best method is the last one since the structural design, based on which the foundation will be laid, includes the study of the local conditions and especially the soil stress, the biggest problems occur in the foundations, resulting in water leakage.
The swimming pool walls must laid simultaneously with a concreting and with the use of a mass seal, to achieve the ultimate water tightness.
