The explosion in oil prices has created new standards in the construction of houses in Greece and people have turned to energy saving buildings (cooling-heating) such as the hybrid house. Hybrid houses produce at least 70% of the required energy, without cost.

• In the hybrid house we take advantage of the buildings outhern orientation in order to make the best use of solar energy. On the southern side/facade of the building we build large windows to facilitate the inflow of solar thermal energy. On the contrary, on the northern side of the building we build small windows in order to avoid the impact of the northern winds that usually blow in our country. In hybrid houses we use to our advantage the constant soil temperature which fluctuates between 17°-18 ° C and by using geothermal energy in conjunction with the under floor heating system, we manage to cool the building in the summer and heat it in the winter at a very low cost. The hybrid house uses heat pumps combined with the under floor pipe system to achieve cooling and heating at a very low cost.

• The energy we can get from the solar panels, mainly during the summer months, exceeds the needs in energy of a modern house.

• The high cost of water for water-irrigation of a residence with a large garden can be reduced at a great percentage by the use of an organic cesspit. As well, while planning the use of the water resources, we can install a rainwater tank mainly for watering the garden.

• For fertilization of plants and trees in the grounds around house we can use organic waste using the compost system.

• Therefore, a hybrid house, except from solar panels and wind turbines, is capable of producing energy from hydroelectric systems and biomass, making the most of the geographical advantages of the region.
